Clover has long been a trusted name in South Africa. The Clover Mama Afrika Trust has joined hands with Lapa Publishers, to produce a magnificent cookbook, featuring as many as 56 recipes. In the foreword, manager Prof Elain Vlok says that she hand-picked recipes from her personal collection, tried and tested for generations. She quotes her late mother: ” If one can read, one can bake.” That should encourage many sceptics to try the scrumptious-looking recipes in the book.

The recipes are arranged by group: Soups, hot and cold snacks, Veggie dishes, Meat dishes, pasta/pizza/pap, as well as a variety of sweet treats, ranging from traditional koeksisters, tamboesies and mosbolletjies, to more modern temptations, such as Black forest cake and carrot cake, to name but a few.

One of the key features of the book has to be the exceptionally good photographs, credit to Jan Botha. Many of the recipes also conclude with handy tips for better results, alternatives and storage hints.
